Rock Rapids to Spencer - 75.7 miles

Ed rode the first leg of the ride, cool with headwinds. Bill & I did the second leg; warm and headwinds continued.

I was riding along and met a rider named Nick from southern California. Turns out that Nick is Marjorie Schallau’s cousin. Marjorie and her husband Jim are ACTC members. About two hours later I saw two riders stopped on the side of the road wearing the new ACTC anniversary jerseys (I was also wearing mine) and gave a shout out, “Hi there ACTC’ers”. Jim Schallau caught up with me and remembered me and also Ed from Greg and Rita Hernandez’ Tierra Bella Safety Meeting. Enjoyed conversing for awhile before Jim took off. Shortly after, his daughter flew by and said she was having a hard time keeping up with her dad. You go Jim!

Dinner was al dente spaghetti at the Catholic Church….hotter than hell in the parish hall. Volunteers served us ice water and desserts while we stood in line. Ran out of food just after we sat down….Rating #2.
